There’s much speculation that shows cellphone use causes cancer and many other forms of health issues. The carriers continually have issues with the public when it comes to cellphone towers and their effects… finding real estate is getting more of an concern.
Rogers has possibly found a solution as they have proposed to build a semi-permanent, 40-metre-high tower in the Port Coquitlam Cemetery (located in B.C.). Where the tower would be placed are only trees today and City Council Brad West stated “it is anticipated that this part of the cemetery will not be required for development by the city in the next 20 years”.
In addition, Council Mike Forrest also stepped up and said the the money raised would be reinvested into the cemetery and “would be extra to our budget at this point. More here
It doesn’t bother me… I mean as long as it’s not visible in the middle of a housing complex or something to me cell towers are not a bother as long as they are somewhat off in the distance. I don’t get it;… People complain all the time about cell service, but when it comes time to improve service by constructing new towers, everyone complains… No one is happy either way, so I say just do what makes financial sense.

As for that “massive amount of evidence…” care to present some? I was under the impression that any study that’s been done hasn’t actually found any evidence whatsoever…and people have been using cellphones in the mainstream for about 15 years now, and I’ve never heard of any increases in cancer.

I thinka cemetery should be just lefted alone, plant cell phone towers on top of apartment buildings, thats a better way, than a eye sore in a cemetery

i wouldn’t mind – write up makes it seem like its such a bad thing. better to be in the cemetary then next to a major mall or park which are much higher traffic areas.

Maybe ghosts from the cemetary will haunt rogers and force them to stop ripping people off. Sure it’s okay for them especially if they don’t have anyone buried there.

It’s pretty disrespectful to put a cell phone tower in a cemetery. It just is.

Uh, no, there’s absolutely zero solid evidence that cell phones are cause for any health concern.

What the hell? There’s no evidence at all. From a technical perspective, it actually looks like complete bullshit.

Phew, glad to see the wording was changed. There is NO evidence at all. In fact the largest studies ever done show there is no evidence. The problem is people’s presumption that it must in spite of the lack of evidence that there is ANY corelation!

Ugh! I hope I don’t get any new cancers in my casket!
Seriously, I think this is good idea since no one wants to live close to a cell tower. At least you won’t get any complains coming from the dead!

Tower in cemetary? Seems disrespectful to me.

why is a structure such as a cell tower “disrespectful” for crying out loud. It’s not like they are building a circus or amusement park or something “fun”. It’s a piece of equpment used to help people communicate with each other.

But, the real question….has any research been done to show the affect cell phone radiation has on human corpses? Perhaps reanimation??
