WIND officially launching in Edmonton February 25th

For all those located in Edmonton and are looking to switch to Wind Mobile… good news has blown your way as they will officially launch tomorrow at 10:30am. In the official release today it stated “WIND Mobile, Canada’s newest national wireless provider, will host a press conference to launch their mobile service to the Edmonton market on Thursday, February 25th at 10:30 a.m.”

Edmonton will now join Toronto and Calgary. Ottawa and Vancouver are next up… Who’ll be the first person in Edmonton to purchase a Wind Mobile device?

  1. i honestly dont understand why people are even bother, Wind Mobile’s rate plan are almost identical if not slightly better with little choice on handheld devices. not worth the trouble.

  2. Great, which carrier can I use my N900 or a Nexus One on? Or let me use 10GB of data (last month) for $35? Has a $15 plan that includes call display and no SAF or GRRF?

They may not be right for you, but none of the big 3 fits any of the criterias above.

I do advise that anyone jumping onto WIND to make use of the free trial period to ensure the service and coverage is right for you. If you want the best coverage outisde of major cities, WIND isn’t for you at this time.

  3. Mike,

Really? You can’t be serious. Find me a provider whose plans all include caller ID and unlimited in-network calling. Is there any provider that offers a data plan with only a soft cap instead of nailing you with overages? Is there any provider that gives these “identical if not slightly better” rates without a long contract? And is there a provider out there that has no time of day restrictions or whose local calling area is the entire province for all their plans?

Yeah, they’re the same alright. ::rollseyes::

  4. I also was just checking out their plans and prices. I am especially impressed with the fact you can get a Bold 9700 from them for $450 without a contract. That’s roughly $150 cheaper than buying one without a contract from another carrier.

  6. Wait for Dave to come out better, at least they’ll test and network will be ready. Wind is using Toronto and Calgary users as beta testers. I have an N900 and my 3G connectivity goes down all the time, really bothersome.

  8. Keith,

Unlimited in network calling is just a marketing tool cuz NOBODY is on wind yet, and there won’t be for serveral years to come. Most people on wind are stuck calling people on the big 3′s networks burning thru their 100 mins (per minute billing!) rather quickly.
