Palm WebOS 1.4 officially launching February 25th?

Back in January at CES Palm stated that we can expect an upgrade to webOS 1.4 by the end of February. In Canada, Bell is currently the only carrier with the Palm Pre, but south of us the rumours were flying about Sprint preparing for a February 16th upgrade… this has since passed. An anonymous Verizon rep has stepped forward and said the “hard date” for the upgrade is coming on February 25th and the new OS will be rolled out to around 100,000 devices at a time.

Some of the anticipated updates in this new webOS version are : Video recording capabilities, Flash 10.1 compatibility, Improved speed and Turn on LED alert by default.

(We have reached out to Palm Canada for further insight and hopefully us Canadians get the same release date as everyone else)

  2. Paid Apps too please! There are two things holding me back from purchasing a Palm Pre:

    (1) Paid apps – I see all those apps and marvel at how unimportant the non-US market is to Palm

    (2) a GSM version – why buy a new phone for an old network?

  3. @Trevor,

I’m with you there for the GSM version. I’ve been getting really eager lately for the gsm version that was rumoured. What’s taking so long?
