Following from last comment, Virgin offers 5gb for $85 and presumably makes a profit.

Surely they could afford to offer 1 gig for $20?

Whichever way you cut it, population density is not the only reason: they are keeping data prices artificially high.

Ok, I’ll try that again.

Wind is offering unlimited data (5gb unthrottled) for $35 on smartphone plans. If they can do that, then surely Bell/Virgin could offer 1gb for $20.

The US has a population of 300 mil vs our 30 mil. In China you can get a puppy(pet) for $3 can. and live on a budget of $100 can. a month.

I dont think thats a good bases to make your wireless decision on if you live in Canada. lol

It’s good that we can now get an iphone on a voice+data plan in Canada with voicemail and caller id, unlimited evenings and weekends for $50… but we still need more flexibility.

I won’t touch a contract or a monthly plan until data prices are far more reasonable. $20 max for at least a gig. Other countries can do 3gb+ for less than $20 so we should be able to get that too.

I’m also disappointed that the broadband2go prepaid option is only available on the cdma network (hspa+ devices are all monthly) and that the price hasn’t budged from $45.

Maybe Virgin found out DAVE/Fresh will announce the brand name and logo along with a launch update on the 2nd. Wonder which story will make the news? LOL

while its nice virgin actaully offers good phones, however if i wanted an iphone i couldve gotten it from any other carrier, theres no advantage getting it from virgin mobile really and i wish CRTC would clamp down on companies creating discount brands to give people the illusion of choice when really its the same company,

Look closely at their data plans. Virgin very much limits what you can do … for instance, no YouTube.

The owness on selecting a wireless carrier lies solely at the feet of the consumer. They is a lot of information to be found online about the big 3 and their sub brands. Research, be patient and make an informed decision.
