Ericsson to cut another 1,500 employees in 2010

Ericsson has reported today that another 1,500 will loose their job this year as profits declined by a hefty 92% in Q4. These cuts are in addition to the 5,000 announced last year. In their statement Ericsson said “When the initial program was announced in January 2009, it was anticipated that the actions would result in a reduction of the number of employees by some 5,000, of which about 1,000 in Sweden. The 5,000 has been exceeded and is estimated to reach approximately 6,500″.

In Canada, Dave Wireless has brought on Ericsson to build out their new network. No word on if these cuts have impacted their timelines.
