Public Mobile has been outspoken over the last couple weeks about their request to the Federal Court to overturn the decision that allowed Globalive to launch… but it seems they are now back on track and priming up to finally launch.
Originally Public Mobile was supposed to launch before the holidays but due to “summer’s city strike in Toronto held up the permitting process” they are targeting the first half of 2010. Public Mobile is targeting their services to reach the “value conscious” market by offering a monthly $40 unlimited talk and text plan.
Today they’ve placed an ad in Metro News that they are having a job fair and looking for “hard-working, sociable” people. If you’re interested to work for Public the job fair is in Toronto at the Public Mobile Store on 2575 Danforth Avenue on January 20th (9:00am – noon & 3:00pm – 8:00pm). The actual ad stated:
“Hi. We’re Public Mobile, a new company working to make mobile phones more affordable to more people. But we need your help. If you’re hard-working, sociable and want to help bring our $40 unlimited talk and text plan to the people, then we’d love to talk to you. And if you’re fluent in a language in addition to English, even better. Just bring a copy of your resume to the address below, during whatever time-slot works best for you. You should also see for yourself just how different Public Mobile is, and visit our website at PublicMobile.ca. It’s a great way to prepare. Hope to see you there.”

You people need to take a step back and look at the objective of Alex’s move.
WIND is his competitor. If he feels that something was done unfairly, it is his job to point it out.
The fact that he is sticking up for his company leaves a bad taste in your mouth?
Come on, get real and a toothbrush while your at it.

People tend to miss the point about PM’s latest move to seek legal action against the government. They are looking for clarification on governmental policy surround foreign investment in the industry which has been complicated by Tony Clement’s overturning of the CRTC, and are NOT taking a stab at WIND. It is not an anti-competition stance but is obviously only to seek a “level playing field” as the CEO suggests. Shouldn’t business in any industry enjoy clear rules of engagment? In the end, allowing foreign investment for all telecom players will lower prices for consumers so what is everyone complaining about?

Public Mobile doesnt have the Backing like WIND! Wind is the strongest out of the new companies! The BIG 3 eat up PUBLIC MOBILE and DAVE WIRELESS A lot easier then WIND!
If WIND is shut down, and PM and Dave is all thats left, the BIG 3 will never CHANGE!

How come the strike didn’t affect WIND?
Public Mobile might as well not exist to anyone outside of Southern Ontario and Southern Quebec; or anybody who’s interested in phone choices.

So does that mean that if you work for public, you’ll automatically go to bell, telus or rogers when public goes belly up? When they sell their spectrum to bell, rogers or telus?
As for telus and bell changing, until Wind gets more money to improve their network, those three will continue to rape and pillage their customers.

@ mike
He’s asking that the decision be OVERTURNED or level for everyone. If he was simply asking for a level playing field, he would be lobbying for rule change/clarification. Not for a decision to be overturned.
Go watch the fox interview again and how he plays on “egyptian money” vs “American money”. You fell for it.
