@Msk12 - Isn't that exactly what the incumbents have done? Hired people to bash their only threat, WIND MOBILE, on public forums and any who support them. I have seen them in action.

Sometimes i feel Wind is hiring people to bash all new wireless provider.
The question is why ?
Are you not sure of your own unreliable network !

RoB, why does PM need further clarifications? If it really has convinced a foreign investor to put up a bunch of money, then let the foreign investor put up a bunch of money.

What is so complicated about it The rules are the same for everyone. PM signs up an investor, goes to the CRTC, gets a lengthy hearing, sees if IC overturns it, etc. And we can be pretty sure that if PM signs up an investor on exactly the same terms as WIND, it's going to have a real good chance at approval.

The only thing lacking for PM in all this, it seems, is an actual foreign investor to make this all relevant.

ok. calm yourself everybod, here is what i think about numerous comments posted in the last 24hours

1- If i was PM i would also ask for clarifications from gvmt, the rules have been changes by the globalive decision and maybe PM was offered foreign money and have declined.
2-Globalive cheated point, the Gvmt made an error and could'nt do anything else than overturn the CRTC call
3- PM to sale in 3-4 years, some of you are stupid to think that an egyptian gave $700M to a Canadian start up with no significant ROI in mind, since Wind has no cable, internet or other telecom product they have two options...fail or sale out at a big price....remember Clearnet anyone...
4-PM C.E.O agree that he seems to be a little different... for those shooting the guy from being ex-Bell exec, should know that the rumour is that he got fired because M George Higher ARPU Cope did not want to move on with a new division that AK wanted to launch similar to PM a few years ago
5-does PM have a chance to survive? maybe, lost cost for spectrum and different offer, maybe not for people on the go or business, but some kind of potential.
6- For all those Globalive fans, you may want to do some research on the egyptian guy that is supporting them, you may FREAK out a little on how he became rich and mostly what type of friends he has...
7- Maybe D.A.V.E will have something good to offer....
8- At the end, when all these new guys hit somekind of cap in revenue, they will need to increase rates to support incremental cost structure, its finance 101... dont fool yourselves.... happen millions of time will happen again

I was waiting for who was going to posture first. You see, none of the BIG 3 can do it because they have to “look good” in the public’s eye which is a really huge hurdle for them considering everything they have been doing to the Canadian Consumer in recent years. I thought that there was a union the BIG 3 probably lobbied that would attempt to do something at first, but it looks like the one that doesn't really care about his business decided to do the dirty work for the incumbents. I wonder what kind of back room deal he's got with BELL or any of the other incumbents.
First of all. Krstajic is about making coin. I have no problem with that, after all that's what business is about. My problem with him is that he used to work for BELL and said that he didn’t want to compete with the incumbents and would consider selling his business. Pay close attention to the 12 minute mark in this debate between the 3 start up’s. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ugJajZxtUQI (turn it up because the sound quality isn’t that good)
I mean come on, first the guy admits to selling out if given the chance and now he says he needs more money to compete or should have been given the opportunity to get more money? Now if what I am hearing is correct Public Mobile now realizes they need cash to compete? OMG! So they didn't know what they were doing from the beginning and now they are crying the blues? Give me a break! This guy has not been in it for the long haul from the beginning and now he has changed his mind? This guy is so contradictive!
Foreign Ownership rules were not disregarded or stepped around. The CRTC's decision was based on a subjective ruling that they relied on the incumbents to interpret for them. It is right in Mr. von Finckenstein's decision. The government's goals are for all Canadians to have access to telecommunications. Taxpayers helped build the big carriers and now that they are well established they have been bleeding us. They missed the point. I believe there has been a measure of collusion between the incumbents and now they are going to use Public Mobile to do their dirty work to try to stop real competition. In the debate Alex even talks about how the incumbents are going to make it very difficult for anyone to break into the market. Events in the last few months prove that. This latest move by Public Mobile simply is a further attempt to stall/paralyze the process of change.

Foreign Investment doesnt necessarily = Foreign ownership. Thats the biggest misconception people seem to have with this whole issue. Public Mobile can easily go out and get foreign ownership, aslong as the company is controlled by Canadians. Globalive was and still is Canadian. Orascom is only an investor, they do not own Globalive. Globalive has been in Canada for a while now.
