Rogers had a long relationship with retail giant The Source as all their phones were well stocked in the stores across Canada. Back in March news came that Bell scooped up all 765 locations for $135 million and declared their devices will be available starting January 1st, 2010.
George Cope, President and CEO of Bell said the main reason for the acquisition was because it “supports Bell’s strategic imperatives to accelerate wireless and leverage momentum in wireline services like Bell TV, Bell Internet and Bell Home Phone”.
So Rogers is out, Bell and Virgin Mobile is in. If you check out TheSource.ca you’ll see they have wasted no time stating “New Cell Phones Just Arrived”. You can find all Bell and Virgin devices from the iPhone, to Bold 9700, Samsung Link to Internet Sticks. Prices seem to be the same but The Source we hear will act independently so I’m sure deals are on the way.
Over the next few weeks a redesign is on the way also. The goal is to reach a younger audience. Wade Oosterman, President of Bell Mobility, previously said “The idea is to make it super convenient for people to actually buy those products and services. The Source has products already today that create traffic from youth and The Source will give additional reasons for youth to come and visit coming January 2010. Virgin has a particularly fine focus on youth. This is an environment that is a comfortable environment for tech savvy clients.”
So with Bell and Virgin devices now available will you flock to The Source?
nah, the source sucks, they sell overpriced crappy goods, in most malls where the source stores are located you already have both carriers kisoks and no offence id rather deal with the kisok salesperson then a source one.

Just another facade to trick Canadian customers into thinking they have choice. From one evil to another – this isn’t change.

With Rogers the Source never carried the iPhone,Know they will.I don’t think Rogers really cares about selling phones threw third party outlets.

They will be renovating the Source stores over the next 3 months to have state-of-the-art displays for Bell/Virgin. Until your local store is renovated, they probably won’t have any postpaid devices on display. I do know that Sunday (Jan 3rd) is the first day that some stores will open with the renovations

Interesting that SOLO isn’t in… feels like we may be seeing the dying days of Bell’s orginal MVNO!

They show that all their phones are ”on sale” and like.. for example the LG Rumour 2, at the Virgin Mobile kiosk, it cost $89.99. Sure it costs the same at the Source but they say the regular price is $229.99? i don’t think it’s even been that much!! they trick people into thinking it’s a good deal. Also, in the mall near me, we have Telus, Bell, Koodo, Virgin Mobile and Rogers and that was fine. now we have Wireless Wave, TBooth and now the source? thats too much. But ouu at least The Source’s interior will look better :/
