Problem is, within 6 months you'll be cursing the fact that you are stuck with an old version of the OS, and unable to run more and more apps that require the latest version of the OS. This phone runs Android 1.5. Android 1.6, 2.0 and even 2.01 are already out, with 2.1 coming in early January. But if you buy this phone, you'll be forever stuck with 1.5. I tried to talk to LG Tech Support (a joke!, I think the guys they put on mobile tech support are the same ones who repair their dishwashers, they have no clue about the phone features) but they had to take out a manual and read to me from the manual. ALso Rogers tech support told me that it was impossible to sync hotmail accounts with this phone (apparently a Microsoft issue, according to them), but the phone mail setup (kludgy as well) states that "ANY POP3 email account can be used". The wizard did not work for Hotmail or Sympatico but it did work for Yahoo.ca (currently unless you have a paid Yahoo.com account, you cannot access those accounts via a 3rd-party mail client, only through a browser, but Yahoo.ca works fine). I also found myself accidentally hitting the soft home and back keys next to the middle button on the bottom of the phone's face, and it would either open another app or bring me to the home page, neither of which I wanted. This may be a good first attempt for LG but it doesn't cut the mustard for my purposes. I'm interested in further reviews on MobileSyrup though... would like to know your thoughts on call and speakerphone quality (this is a PHONE< after all, not an iPod!), as well the upcoming mail/text, etc. reviews. @theninjasquad I agree. My fingers actually felt like they were burning after I dialed a phone #. I also found their T9 implementation very annoying and time-consuming, much less intuitive than a BB. Finally, the word on the street is that Rogers and/or LG will NOT be offering an update to 1.6 or 2.0/2.1 of the Android OS on this unit, which makes it obsolete as soon as you take it out of the box.
