If anything, they should embrace it because it is probably finally bringing technological advancement with the introduction of highspeed in some areas around there. Human beings are creatures of amazing potential to adapt. Soon enough it will become a part of the surrounding. It's not like someone will just walk into one of these poles. If they are so worried about this tower going up then they should get creative and plant a tree around it or something. It will help beautify the area and help the environment. If they don't put the flashing lights on the towers, some armchair pilot in a "Fly Away Home" rig will crash into it and Rogers will pay heavily. If they don't put up the tower at all, people will complain about the lack of signal strength. It defies me how a town that makes a significant part of its budget in tourism could thumb their nose at something that makes tourism in their area more attractive to the segment of the population that spends the most money. Middle to upper class families that do not want to be completely disconnected when they are on vacation. The untouched wilderness has gone the way of the nickel sundae and the Studebaker. If you don't like the towers, don't look at them. But as society moves towards the inevitable conclusion of an existence completely devoid of wired phones, don't forget to smile and nod when your neighbour is drowning in one of your beloved lakes and the phone belonging to the only witness is a cell phone that calls for 911 through one of those towers. This is no news story. This is the bleat of a town that gets no news coverage finding something to complain about so they can get their moment in the news. Move on. Nothing to see here. Oh get over it.
