Yes it does have a slot for a SIM card, but it only for the purpose of world roaming. The original Storm also had this hardware feature. While the phone IS compatible with European HSPA networks, it unfortunately, is not compatible with North American HSPA. I'm uncertain of the technical reasons, but discussions can be found on crackberry.com There is a GSM version of the Storm2: model number 9520. This phone will not be coming to Telus. Reason being: Verizon has an exclusivity deal on the Storm2 with RIM to be the only North American HSPA network to carry an HSPA compatible version of the Storm2. Verizon does not have their HSPA network up and running yet, so Telus is bound by legalities to only have access to the 9550. The good news is that Rogers will be getting the 9520 early on in the New Year. From what I understand, if you want to enjoy the speeds of HSPA network, as opposed to being stuck on CDMA, you can purchase a 9520 from Rogers, unlock it, and have it be compatible.
