It’s Friday the 13th and this is a bizarre story, not a scary story. Residents in the Cranbrook, B.C. area are embracing the build of a new $1,000,000 TELUS cell tower! Usually we hear the constant backlash… not this time.
The new tower will provide those woe come in the area access to TELUS’ new 3G+ network. Frank Mungiello, TELUS service manager said “Finishing this project is very rewarding not only because of the tough construction challenges related to the geography, but because of the community support shown to us for bringing new wireless coverage to the region.”
Hon. Bill Bennett stated “It’s wonderful to see this very important project for residents in the area and our community finally completed. My appreciation goes to TELUS for listening to the community needs for cell coverage and delivering a world class service.”

Telus doesn’t give a crap about the communities needs, they just want to be able to advertise that they have even more 3G+ coverage than Rogers in even more rural places.

There is an interesting story behind this cell site. Some guy had a stroke years ago in an area typically out of range, but he had a booster and was able to use his Telus phone to call for help. That guy got together with Bill Bennett to lobby for the site so that all users would have access.
Telus was the only company that agreed to build a site.
