Inventor of the cellphone says future’s in “a number of specialist devices”

martin-cooperPerhaps evolution is not progress. According to Martin Cooper, he the person who’s coined with creating the world’s first mobile phone, has stated at a privacy conference in Madrid “Whenever you create a universal device that does all things for all people, it does not do any things well, Our future I think is a number of specialist devices that focus on one thing that will improve our lives”

That’s right… you’ll need to individually carry around a GPS, contact list, e-mail, calendar, calculator, camera etc…

One comment for “Inventor of the cellphone says future’s in “a number of specialist devices””

    1. I do carry multiple devices. IMO, no media player beats an iPod/iPhone, no email/texting phone beats a Blackberry, most phone cameras stink, and no phone GPS beats a handheld TomTom or Garmin.

The only thing I’ve noticed is that very few people wear watches any more. And to be fair there are some decent phone cameras that can replace your average compact.

They aren’t exceptional, but maybe “good enough” is just good enough to the average joe.
