Hardware is virtually identicle. You can install the Hero ROM on it so you get SenseUI and multitouch. I just picked one up for $350 and planning on doing exactly that. However, HTC have announced that they are currently underway porting the Sense UI in the Hero to run on Eclair 2.0, and this is for all HTC Heros. So Itll be coming one way or another.
