MTS Q3 results: Revenues up 7.3% and subscribers grow to 451,916

mtslogoMTS has reported their Q3 2009 results and even though Pierre Blouin, MTS CEO, said “Our third quarter results reflect the continued impact of economic challenges facing Canada’s business market”… you would never know it from looking at their wireless business.

Here are some highlights from the positive quarter:
– Q3 Wireless revenues increased 7.3% ($80.6 million) compared to last quarter
– YTD Wireless revenues have increased 9.0% ($234.4 million) from this time last year
– As at September 30, 2009 wireless subscriber base grew by 7.4% over the previous year to 451,916 subscribers
– Average Revenue Per User (“ARPU”) of $57.04 decreased by 0.8% or $0.47 to $56.57
– Wireless penetration in Manitoba was approximately 64% (Canadian penetration is approximately 67%)
– Wireless data revenues increased 23.3% due to wireless Internet, wireless data bundles, text messaging

The Q3 report stated “We continue to see growth potential for our wireless services in Manitoba. Our MTS Mobility network provides strong brand awareness, network reach and customer service. In addition, the high-value product bundles that we offer customers cannot be matched by our competitors. These factors along with increasing consumer adoption of wireless products provide an environment for further growth in Manitoba.”
