Quebecor Inc. (which owns Videotron) spent $554.5 million during the Canadian Wireless Spectrum Auction last year and plans to launch early 2010.
Currently only 56% of Quebecers have cell phones and Quebecor CEO, Pierre Karl Péladeau, said “We are looking for pole position, nothing less. In the past few years, observers have deplored the paucity of the telecommunication services offered to Quebecers… I am proud that we are getting ready once again to revitalize a market that, up to now, has had a chronic deficit of innovative spirit.”

So far they have not really impressed me at all. I really wished we got Wind to come and compete here. Videotron really needs to offer more in handsets and plans (especially data!)

It is sure for now their offer is not impressive since they are using Rogers network they are limited. Just remember what happened when they enter on the home phone service … but I still agree with you, Wind would have been nice here …

Should’ve ask them what they plan to do with that spectrum in southern Ontario and Toronto. Do they plan to offer service here or is it just for their users to have reception without paying for roaming.
