Palm Pixi announced! TELUS rumour of January 2010 release

palm-pixi-logoWe’ve been hearing rumours of a new Palm device for some time now. It was codenamed the “Eos” and its real name was announced as the “Pixi”. This is the second device to run on their new webOS platform and the first device to ship with the Qualcomm MSM7627 chipset, essentially making the device preform faster.

This will be released by the holiday season on Sprint and is rumoured to be heading to TELUS for a Canadian launch in January 2010. Other specs of the Pixi are that it measures 55 mm x 111 mm x 10.85 mm and weighs in at a mere 99.5 grams. The Pixi has a full QWERTY keyboard and a 2.63-inch multi-touch screen (resolution of 320×400), a 2 megapixel fixed-focus camera with flash (still no video), no WiFi, 8GB of built-in storage, Bluetooth 2.1, GPS and a 3.5 mm headphone jack.

Check out these videos of the Pixi in action of what we can eventually expect:

  1. This phone looks horribly ugly to me, but evidently a number of people really like the look, eh…

  4. I’m definitely looking forward to actually seeing it up close and personal, but I think I’m set on getting the Pre.

  5. I look forward to this phone. It’s simple. I’ve had the old Treo’s and I think this is just an upgrade of those models. I just hope Bell gets the Palm pixi plus too. ;)
