OtterBox BlackBerry Tour Defender Series Case Review

Up in Canada we tend to lock ourselves into glorious 3-year contracts, hopefully this will change when the new carriers launch. With that said it’s important for us to take care of our devices. We’ve been rocking several devices over the past couple month, one being the BlackBerry Tour 9630.

OtterBox has come out with a couple cases that can protect your BlackBerry from scratches, bumps, dust and drops (not water). We reviewed the Impact Series before and now we took a crack at the Defender Series Case. This has 3-layers of protection and although it’s makes the device a bit heavier – it’ll protect it beyond belief and still give you access to all the buttons, ports and keys.

The 3-layers are: Layer 1: Thermal formed protective clear membrane that protects the keypad. Layer 2 is the hi-impact polycarbonate shell and layer 3 is the silicone skin that wraps around the Tour.

Overall dimensions are 4.74 inches x 2.87 inches x .88 inches, has a weight of 1.89 ounces and retails around $50,

    1. Well I wouldn’t say we tend to lock ourselves in, since its not really by choice. The carriers don’t really give us much of an option if you want a subsidized price on a phone. Otherwise you’re stuck paying almost full price even on a 2 year contract.

    2. So that’s awesome for someone who simply wants to save their phone from damage, but it definitely makes the phone look like a generic brick, good for contractors maybe. There are a whole lot more people buying these that aren’t using them for business so for all of them….this is UGLY!
