I don't quite get it. Who's the genius that decided another group of folks should examine Globalive? It sounds like another bureaucratic stick-nose-here project.

@Dave
The Canadian consumers are being held hostage to higher rates for less time. Everything from access fees to 3 year contracts to exclusive cell/carrier phones to 911 fees....
the list goes on.

I, along with every other LOGICAL Canadian would WELCOME any carrier that would legally lower the rates to a FAIR price. I care little about who invests in the company as long as they are not terrorists.

What I do care about is that we, as CANADIAN's are getting raped on pricing.

This is simply ANOTHER example of double standards for Measurement Canada being exploited by larger Canadian companies to maximize their profit. Pure and simple.

BTW, I deal with Industry Canada in another sector and see this same behavior ALL THE TIME. The government staff have even admitted that they no longer look out for the best interest of the consumer, but take the most reasonable approach they can with the large companies. It is so bad that they can NOT even ENFORCE any wrongdoing when the companies willingly avoid or subvert the governments own specifications. The most the government does is suggest that they stop it. The legal department does not allow them anything else.

I for one can NOT WAIT until there is REAL competition.

Serge nailed it. but then again ORASCAM would have influence on Globalive considering how much they have invested.

As long as Globalive provides excellent services at reasonable prices I don't see how that is an issue. I see no good coming from so called Canadian owned companies such as BELL, ROGERS, TELUS.

I just have received mail from BELL indicating that my services will cost me $3 more starting August with no explanation as to why. Just increase the rate, I guess that is good for all of us Canadians.
