Videotron signs roaming and tower sharing agreements with Rogers

nokia-2630-videotron-canadaVideotron has come out of the woodwork and struck up a couple key deals with Rogers that help grow their business and better serve their customers. The first is an exclusive roaming agreement that will guarantee nationwide cellular service coast to coast.

Back in December Quebecor CEO Pierre Karl Péladeau committed to spend up to $1 billion to build its new Wireless business. “We’re investing with a medium- and long-term perspective. There is no future for a cable and telecom company that doesn’t invest in its technology. Wireless is the future”. With this they have signed another agreement but for tower sharing arrangements for certain cellular sites within Quebec and the Ottawa region.

Robert Dépatie, President and CEO of Videotron “This is great news for our customers and for us. At the same time, we appreciate the openness and collaborative spirit of Rogers with whom we hope to continue to develop a lasting business relationship. As part of the rollout of our wireless network – one of the world’s most sophisticated – we consider every collaboration as essential to providing customers with quality services and benefits. This agreement is also a benefit for the population because it limits the need to build additional towers”.
