Rogers Nokia 7510 Video Review

nokia-7510-canadaThe Nokia 7510 was recently released and there are a few key features to this economical device.

The key feature to the Nokia 7510 is the ability to use Rogers Talkspot. This, for a monthly fee, allows you to make unlimited calls when you are in your “home calling zone” (30 meters) without wasting your cellphone minutes. It’ll connect to a router and use WiFi.

The design is lightweight at 124 grams and has the capacity to store up to 8GB with a microSD card. In addition you’ll see that it’s a flip phone with a button that can help you open the device. I guess this was a feature they’ve added cause I’m not sure who actually needs help opening a flip phone. Perhaps it was added as a cool feature.

Also, on the front when you close or press the volume rocker a hidden display will appear to show the time and any messages you have. This was cool as it didn’t take away from the overall style of the 7510. To personalize this you get a couple changeable faceplate and back covers. One will come in fatal red and storm blue.

Inside I was surprised to see how shiny it was. It has this high gloss silver chrome mirrored look to it. The screen size is 2.2 inches with a resolution of 240×320. the keys I felt are somewhat close together but I’m sure overtime when using the 7510 you’ll get used to it. Everything else is pretty standard when it comes to the keypad and display. This also comes loaded with a 2 megapixel camera with LED flash. The quality of pics are OK, nothing really to write home about but much greater than 1.3 megapixel camera that other devices slam in there. The processing of the images was fast and you can send your pics via text message etc… also, the 7510 has a video camera, unfortunately the quality was incredibly pixelated but the sound was impressive.

For your messaging, IM is through Yahoo! Messenger and Microsoft, plus your Rogers MobileMail and your standard text messaging (1000 character limit). Using the keypad was easy to use.
