These phones are great but because Rogers will not be upgrading the Android 1.5 OS the phone will be obsolete before you buy it. Already there are many apps that will not work on the 1.5 OS that this phone ships with. I would probably steer clear of HTC & Rogers phones and go with Apple as they push out uprades directly to the end user and do not depend on the carrier to deliver the upgrades.

So the HTC magic and dream are both smartphones?
And do they both have a 3.5mm headphone jack?

Thanks for the great review, I am so excited to get this phone. I have a question though. For now I only want to use the wi-fi on the phone, rather than paying for a data plan. I read somewhere that in order to avoid excessive pay-per-use data charges I should download an app called wisync, which allows me to control when and how I access the internet. You said that only free apps are currently available in the marketplace for Canadians, do you know if wisync is one of them? I don't want to buy the phone only to find out I can't avoid an expensive data plan.

Thanks for the review. Personally I wouldn't want all my phone usage sent to Google only to be sold to marketers.

Good overall review.
I'd like to see a part 2!

I tryed to demo it at a Rogers store but found no reps had one as their personal phone so just the dummy phones.

I've heard great things about the Magics keyboard though and the Hero has had even better things said about it's new keyboard.

The Magic just price dropped to $99 July 1st (pretty reasonable for Canada). I'm fairly sold on the Hero but I imagine it will be $149 and a few months wait.

Thanks for the detailed review. However I still can't decide if I want to go with the touchscreen model or not. I guess I'll have to go into the store and try things out to see how I like typing on a touch screen. I guess it can't be that bad if millions of people are doing it with the iPhones.
