TELUS dumps $700 million into Alberta, creates 1,200 jobs

teluslogoTELUS announced today they’ll invest more than $700 million in Alberta, creating more than 2,100 jobs. The focus will be to expand wireless and wireline broadband infrastructure and launch a new anticipated High Speed Packet Access (HSPA) network by early 2010.

Darren Entwistle, President and CEO of TELUS said “Our investment of more than $700 million in leading broadband
technology will create employment opportunities, contribute to the province’s future competitiveness, and support the launch of innovative new services for TELUS customers.”

    1. Last time I checked, HSPA was 3G, not 4G.

    2. Telus has a terrible record of poor and shoddy “customer service”, for both consumer and business, in Alberta. As well, Shaw offers superior services at typically half the cost. Since closing most of its retail stores (and leaving some of them empty shells), Telus has basically said “piss off, hosers” to all Albertans.

      They will need to do much more than just throw some money around to win anyone back.
