Globalive hires 100 in Windsor… ready to dominate?

globalivelogoIt’ll be very interesting to watch Globalive come to life in the wireless market over the next few months. They are poised to officially launch their brand this fall in Toronto, Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary and Ottawa, then nationally 2010.

Anthony Lacavera, CEO of Globalive, has always been vocal about his plans and made it known that they will offer a fixed-priced monthly plans with no contract, allow unlimited calling within your area and rollover minutes… all targeting the 16-60 year olds that don’t have a cell phone yet.

Sounds like they are ready to dominate… especially with the announcement of hiring over 100 employees for their new customer service centre in Windsor, Ontario. “We are very excited to welcome Globalive to Windsor-Essex,” said Windsor Mayor Eddie Francis. “This dynamic and growing company offers a significant opportunity for diversifying our economy and will be a positive addition to the local business community.”

Ezio D’Onofrio, Globalive’s President and Chief Operating Officer said “Locating in Windsor has given us access to a dynamic workforce and we’re confident that we’ve hired an exceptional group of people who will uphold Globalive’s commitment to provide our customers with quality and value”.

I know there are still questions about how they will enter Quebec and even more questions about being financed by a foreign investors. What are your thoughts on Globalive?

  1. If Globalive stays on the path of working with companies like MyScreen.com for alternative revenue, I think they have a good chance at luring subscribers because they will have the ability to lower the cost of plans.

  2. i think as long as they don't just gain market share and people just to bulk up and sell out like fido did several years back i think more competition the better in canada.
