We’re in a giving mood and it’s not even our birthday yet! Yup – time to give back and celebrate being Canadian. So, we have a brand new white HTC Touch and all you have to do is answer a very touch skill testing question. We will supply the hardware you just have to activate and get yourself a monthly plan.
The contest goes until Friday, August 22nd at 11:59pm. We will put all the names into a bowl and pick a winner. You can either leave your answer below in the comment section or send an e-mail to info@mobilesyrup.com
We did a review a few month back and you can check it out here (the device is much more exciting that our voice). The HTC Touch is a sexy beast. What you will get if you win: HTC Touch phone, battery charger, MiniUSB cable, earphones, case.
Ready for the skill testing question: What do you love about Canada?
Enjoy and good luck!

What I love about Canada the most is the freedom we all experience as Canadians.
Looking around the world, I see that it’s somewhat of a rare thing.
Canada is fierce.

I like that we are peacekeepers

What I like about Canada is that we as Canadians have to be tougher and more persistent and resiliant than those in other countries that have more high tech telecommunications systems yet still live in mud huts.

Canada is a one of the best places to live on Earth. Truly.
As I enjoy highly value french gastronomy (my very weakness), I tend to describe Canada as a 3 stars-grade capable country that, surprisingly, prefers to remain in the 2-stars category. And to keep the beauty of this country, we cannot afford this posture.
It would benefit everyone in this country if people were more eager to require a 3-stars class restaurant service in every domain (health, education, culture, technology, economy,…) and in everyday life.
- most open society: the rest of the World should copy us
- How can we accept the way policy makers deal with GMOs? With no genuine canadian way of doing things. We pride our scenery and mostly its bio-diversity and we just follow the american way of dealing with GMOs???
Canada is doing VERY poorly in Kyoto related issues. This has to be clearly stated. Every one outside Canada has an idyllic view of the country and we don’t deliver on this particular issue.
- The one reflex I hate the most in Canada, is the general tendency to rate every thing compared to how the US are doing. Who the hell said the US lead in every domain??? What ever we do we should rate ourselves compared to the best in the World and not less:
* social issues: nordic countries are the best
* How can people still don’t complain on such things like total lack of competition in some markets (wine distribution in some provinces, telecommunication services…) that leads to higher prices and lack of innovation?
In this field, Canada is doing VERY VERY BADLY. And the paradox is that the mainstream Joe tend to thing Canada is among the leaders in technology innovation.
NOTE: No one should copy Canada for that issue
As the mobile and broadband industry are concerned, we are simply the worst or among the worst compared to resources/skills we have. But keep in mind the solutions are in our hands (CRTC hands specifically) and are easy to implement.
* broadband and telecoms competition: Europe are the best and Japan and South Korea should be the model for broadband. This is a such an important component of modern economies.
Canada is undoubtely a GREAT place but as usual, the biggest challenge upon us is to keep it so. And, IMO, the best way to start with is to get everyone accustomed to being treated to the best service/product in our everyday life (from civil liberties and freedoms to health, education …).
PS: Don’t get me wrong. As I appreciate living in Canada, when it’s time to get comparisons, I compare to those who do better than us not to those who do poorly then us.

Except that new DMCA Prentice has been working on.
But at least our Cellular providers are reliable and have our loyalty.
Except Telus and Bell are starting 15 cents for incoming text messages.
Okay… well, at least we’re the last ones to go down in Global Warming.

20 damm good reasons to LOVE CANADA and all the beautiful pepole in it…P.S I WANT THAT PHONE LOL
1. The toque. For inventing hat hair, Canuck-style.
2. Joni Mitchell. The Prairie priestess of poetry. For singing Butterbox Babies and A Case of You.
3. Tim Hortons. For brewing coffee that tastes as good as it smells. And for chocolate sour cream Timbits.
4. Pierre Elliott Trudeau. Because he could do handsprings, and drove a gull-wing Mercedes roadster. Because he made us think about what our country means to us.
5. Polar bears. Big, white, beautiful.
6. The anti-gun rack. In which our pickup trucks carry umbrellas, not automatic weapons.
7. McIntosh apple. That sweet crunch was brought to you by Ontario’s Johnny (Appleseed) McIntosh, in 1796.
8. Wayne Gretzky. You don’t have to be a hockey fan to call the pride of Brantford a great athlete, and one classy guy.
9. Salmon. Our iconic survivor.
10. Greenpeace. For raising global environmental consciousness, and for saving whales.
11. Paul Anka. From Puppy Love to (You’re) Having My Baby, the smooth Ottawa-born crooner has done it his way.
12. Agnes McPhail. Here’s to the leader of the pack: The first woman elected to Parliament, in 1921.
13. Bill Reid. World-renowned Haida artist and touchstone of a vibrant, cherished native culture.
14. Perogies. Smothered with butter, fried onions and sour cream. Thank you, old country.
15. The Canadian Shield. Impenetrable and massive, this central Canadian layer of igneous rock and coniferous forest is our protective shell.
16. Snow. Because we can’t control it. And can’t stop talking about it.
17. Cindy Klassen. Speed skater extraordinaire, her six Olympic medals are the most won by a Canadian.
18. The Maple Leaf. Our flag, bold and graphically spare, makes the heart swell.
19. Finola Hackett. Because she’s gracious and can spell poiesis. And she’s 14, giving us hope for the next generation.
20. Arthur Erickson. He lives in a backyard Eden, but his buildings are all business, stark and purposeful.
