RIM has been in developments for some time with a possible touchscreen and it seems that our friends over at Boy Genius have quite the insider working with them.
The “BlackBerry Thunder” (aka BlackBerry 9500) is a full touchscreen with only 4 hard keys - send, end, BlackBerry menu, and back - will launch in Q3 2008 will launch as a worldwide lifetime exclusive on Verizon and Vodafone. Imagine when we get it in Canada and if Rogers Wireless has the iPhone, Nokia N95 and the soon to arrive BlackBerry Thunder… we call monopoly!
Some more details are:
- the unit will be a hybrid device with CDMA EV-DO Rev. C.
- possible 4G or LTE
- GSM HSPA for traveling internationally.
Good work Boy Genius!

I believe RIM will definatly be going with rogers on this one. Unless they wait until next summer to release it when there will be new carriers in the buisness. Who know’s all we know is that at least it won’t go threw the legal battles the iphone went through in Canada the reason why it took so long.
…this will be a CDMA device first…hence verizon carrying it. TELUS will launch in Q4.
well looks like your both ritht the store 9530 will be CDMA
(Telus Bell) and the 9500 GSM (Rogers and Rogers)from what i have been reading…. so far
Actually, it will be exclusive to Telus…already signed…Rogers has Bold…Telus has Thunder
I have a scoop, I was told by a Bell corporate rep that the BB Thunder will be offered by November 2008
How do you know it will be sold exclusively through TELUS? Seems as though the Curve is sold through all providers.
