Rogers Wireless invests $10m into Prince Rupert

Rogers Wireless announced an investment of $10 million into adding network coverage in Prince Rupert and Terrace, B.C. with expansion plans to Prince Rupert’s airport scheduled for May 2008.

Prince Rupert is looking to become a major location for shipping and international business
within the next five to ten years and this investment by Rogers’ it sustainability and growth opportunities.

Premier Gordon Campbell spoke out and said “I appreciate Rogers’ support of our efforts to invest in the future of Northern B.C. with its multi-million dollar network expansion which will bring wireless service to Prince Rupert and other towns in the area.”

“Our $10 million investment recognizes the importance of world-class communications in an area of growing economic significance in British Columbia,” said Gordon Nelson, Vice President and General Manager, Rogers Communications, British Columbia. “As Canada’s only GSM provider, we are pleased to offer leading-edge wireless devices on Canada’s most reliable network.”
